Mood Disorders at Work

When a mood disorder impacts work, you need a clear plan

An employee is struggling and your managers or HR team are unsure what to do. You want to support the person, protect the team, and reduce risk without improvising.

HopeStage provides structured workplace support for mood disorders. We also have deep expertise in bipolarity, often the hardest situations to manage at work.

This is not therapy and not an EAP. It is a time-bound workplace intervention: employee support, manager guidance, and HR clarity.

Employee support details

What we do for the employee

Supporting the employee is essential, but it must be done in a way that fits a professional environment and aligns with company responsibilities.

Our approach combines orientation, coaching, and psychoeducation. It helps the person stabilise, understand their bipolarity, and work more safely and sustainably.

Orientation and assessment

  • One-on-one sessions to understand the person’s situation at work
  • Clarification of needs, limits, and stress factors
  • Identification of early warning signs and risk situations

Coaching and practical tools

  • Work-focused coaching sessions (this is not therapy)
  • Concrete tools to manage energy, rhythm, and workload
  • Support to communicate needs clearly and professionally

Psychoeducation

  • Clear explanation of bipolarity and mood fluctuations
  • Understanding triggers, phases, and stabilising factors
  • Helping the person accept and work with their condition at work

Talking groups and community

  • Optional access to moderated talking groups
  • Peer exchange with people facing similar challenges
  • Reduced isolation and normalisation of experiences

Tailored support over time

  • Regular follow-up sessions (every 1 to 2 weeks)
  • Adjustment of the support plan as the situation evolves
  • Clear boundaries and a defined duration
Important: this support is designed to complement medical care. We do not replace psychiatrists or psychologists and always work within a professional and ethical framework.
